CERC fixes transmission charges for assets under System Strengthening XIX in Southern Regional Grid

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has approved the transmission tariff for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s (Powergrid) various transmission assets under the “System Strengthening XIX in Southern Regional Grid”.

The approved and claimed annual transmission charges are summarised in the tables below:

Asset-I: A) Kurnool-Thiruvalam 765 kV D/C line

B) Extension of the 765 kV substation at Kurnool and upgradation of the 400 kV substation at Thiruvalam to 765/400 kV with 3,000 MVA, 765/400 kV transformers

C) 240 MVAR line reactor at both ends of each circuit of the Kurnool-Thiruvalam 765 kV D/C line

The tariff under the order will be applicable from the date of commercial operation of the transmission system. The commission has asked Powergrid to submit information about the actual date of commercial operation of assets, trial operation certificate issued by the Regional Load Despatch Centre and the Central Electricity Authority, as well as documents in support of interest rates, repayment schedules, etc.
